If you are planning on listing your home, it is important that your house is not only staged correctly but is also well lit. Lighting up the spaces in your house can help make your home look more appealing to buyers. So, to help provide some insight, your local Fleming Island realtor with the Marla Newman Group has listed several tips for lighting up dark spaces.

Tip #1: Utilize Your Space

Having a large room may seem difficult to brighten up, but you can do so by mounting a larger light fixture in the ceiling. Purchasing a large chandelier or placing a big light pendant in the corner of the room can help add more character and brighten up the area.

Tip #2: Use LED Light Bulbs

When buyers view different Fleming Island real estate for purchase, most prefer bathrooms and kitchens to be bright and well lit. A useful tip to help improve the lighting of these areas would be to exchange all the current lighting with LED light bulbs. LED lights provide a bright luminescence and they are more energy efficient.

Tip #3: Add Additional Lamps

If you are focusing on the living room, you do not need to have only one source of light. Along with the main ceiling light, you could place floor lamps in the corners of the room or you could add some modern-looking end tables next to the couch and place decorative lamps on top of the tables. This is a great way to brighten up the room and add more of a decorative flair to appeal to buyers.

Tip #4: Hang Up Large Mirrors

A cheap and easy trick to help lighten up an area without purchasing more lamps or other light fixtures is to place a large mirror on the wall. The reflection from the mirror will draw in more natural light from the windows or it will use the light from the other lamps to illuminate the room.

Tip #5: Use A Lighter Color On The Walls

Another useful way to lighten up a dark space is by painting the walls a brighter color. Consider using a neutral color, such as a soft yellow or an off white color to brighten up the room and make the area seem larger.
