The home garden and television network (HGTV) has been providing free advice for buyers, sellers, and current homeowners for over 24 years. This highly credible network gives their recommendations based off of statistics on homes sold throughout the entire country, however, they do not take into consideration those living in the “sand states.”

If you want to sell your home, then now is the best time to do so. Although traditionally speaking, the peak time to sell is during the spring season, however, many people follow this trend due to what HGTV is telling them to do.

Why Now Is The Best Time To Buy

As we are all aware, Florida is a “sand state” that does not experience harsh snowy winters as they do up north. This means that our local businesses do not shut down during the winter season nor do our homes take a beating to the nonexistent icy conditions.

Due to our tropical climate, buying a home between January and March would actually be significantly more beneficial than waiting until April and May.

Following the selling advice of HGTV when you live in a sand state, means there will be an influx of homes on the market come April and May. If everyone is waiting to sell your home then the housing competition will spike. There will be too many homes for sale on the market then people looking to buy. This is why you should sell your home right now.

Local Statistics

There are more people looking to purchase a home now then there are homes available. In Eagle Harbor alone, there are a total of 3300 homes and only a small percentage of those houses are for sale. In order to be a healthy market, there should be about 4% of homes for sale, which is approximately 132 different properties in Eagle Harbor and there is currently only 1% available for purchase today.

The “rule of thumb” states that you should wait until spring to sell your home, but if you are looking to make a successful sale in less time then you should do the opposite of the “rule of thumb” and put your home up for sale now.

Get Started Today

Homes listed for sale between January and March have less competition with other sellers and are sold at a faster rate. So, if you are looking to sell your home quickly, then you should do so now before the market gets overwhelmed in spring.
